Villazón is a small city on the southern border of Bolivia with Argentina, located near the Argentinian town of La Quiaca. In order to travel from Cochabamba to Villazón, it is necessary to divide the trip in two segments: first from Cochabamba to Oruro and then from Oruro to Villazón.
The trip from Oruro to Cochabamba takes around 5 hours, covering a distance of 213 km through a paved highway that crosses the valleys of Cochabamba and the altiplano region. The buses leave from the bus terminal in Cochabamba located on Avenida Ayacucho. Before boarding the bus, you need to pay a small fee of 2,50 bolivianos, called Uso de Terminal. The bus arrives at the bus terminal of Oruro, located on Avenida Gregorio Reynolds.
In order to travel from Oruro to Villazón, you can take a bus or train. The bus leaves from the same bus terminal and takes 13 hours to arrive in Villazón, covering a distance of 749 km. The buses arrive in Villazón at the bus terminal, on Avenida La Paz. If you choose to travel by train, you need to go to the train station on Avenida Velasco Galvarro. The trains from Oruro to Villazón takes around 16 hours.
