TRAVEL OPTIONS FROM ORURO TO COCHABAMBA

Tickets Bolivia offers several bus travel options to make this journey:

• Direct trip: You can travel directly from Oruro to Cochabamba. The journey takes about 5 hours. Buses leave throughout the day between 4:30am and 11:00pm. The bus company offering this service is Trans Azul (normal bus and semi lie-flat bus). Before boarding the bus, you will have to pay a terminal fee called uso de terminal which has a cost of 2.5 Bs.

SOME TOURISTIC INFORMATION THAT CAN BE OF INTEREST

• Palacio Portales: The Palacio Portales was a residence of Simon Iturri Patiño, a Bolivian millionaire who was one of the wealthiest people in the world in the 1930s. Set in 10 hectares of gardens inspired by Versailles, the mansion was never occupied. The Patiño Mansion is now the Cultural and Pedagogic Centre Simon I. Patiño. The gardens and art museum called Centro de Arte Contemporaneo are open to the public.
  
• El Cristo de la Concordia: Cristo de la Concordia is a statue of Jesus Christ located atop San Pedro Hill near the center of Cochabamba. It is accessible by cable car, or by climbing 2,000 steps. The monument has a total height of 40 meters, making it the second largest statue of Jesus Christ in the world. The views from the platform are gorgeous, and you can get a rare and clear view of just how big Cochabamba really is.
  
• Tunari Mountain: Cerro Turani is a mountain which sits at 5,035 meters high, dominating the landscape to the northwest of Cochabamba. Travel two hours on the road, and go from a semi-tropical urban climate, to a mountainous and fresh environment. Many tour agencies offer this trip, transporting you to the wild Bolivian lands.
  
• Parque Toro Toro: Four to five hours away from Cochabamba in bus, this national park is famous for being the land of dinosaurs.
  
• Food: Cochabamba is known as the culinary capital of Bolivia and this is where you can eat the best food Bolivia has to offer in the most generous portions.
