• Direct trip: You can travel directly from Villazón to Potosí with the company Flota Diamante (3 row bed bus and semi lie-flat bus). Buses leave Villazón at 22:00hrs, and arrive in Potosí at 05:00am the next morning.
• Trip with stopover: You can also travel from Villazón to Sucre with 6 de Octubre company (cama bus) and from there to Potosí with Trans Emperador, or go via Uyuni with Auto Transporte Tupiza.

SOME TOURISTIC INFORMATION THAT CAN BE OF INTEREST

• Casa de la Moneda: This historical building is also one of the best museums in Bolivia. Here you will learn all about the history of the silver mines and Potosí as one of the world’s first coin mints and largest city in the world at the time. Guided tours in English or Spanish lead you through 20 galleries that show everything from weapons to archeology to the coin presses themselves.
• Cerro Rico: There are several companies that offer visits of the mines. Some companies are more ethical than others so make sure to check online reviews to make sure you book the tour with a company that really supports the miners.
• Colonial city center: Several impressive and well preserved colonial buildings can be found in Potosi’s city center: Torre de la Compañía de Jesús,  Catedral de la Ciudad de Potosi, Convento Museo Santa Teresa, and Iglesia de San Lorenzo de Carangas, are some of the highlights.
• Hot springs: Belief in the curative powers of Tarapaya turned these thermal baths into the most frequently visited hot-springs around Potosí (21km northwest of the city). They date back to Inca times.
• Restaurants: Local dishes from Potosí are Cazuela, Aji de Pataskha, Chambergos, Chajchu, and Calapurka, among others. Do not miss the calapurka, a soup made with wheat flour and cooked with a hot stone.
• Accommodation: Located at 4,060 meters above sea level, Potosi can get particularly cold at night and in winter. Bring layers and be prepared as some hostels may not have heating in the rooms.
