• Direct trip: You can travel directly from Santa Cruz to Cochabamba. The journey takes about 10 hours. Buses leave at 8:00pm and 9:00pm. The bus company offering this service is: Trans Copacabana S.A. (lie-flat buses). Before boarding the bus there is small fee charged by the terminal that you must buy, called Uso de Terminal and which costs 2.5 Bs.

SOME TOURISTIC INFORMATION THAT CAN BE OF INTEREST

• Palacio Portales: The Palacio Portales was built between 1915 and 1927 and was a residence of Simon Iturri Patiño, a Bolivian millionaire. He was one of the wealthiest people in the world in the 1930s. Set in 10 hectares of gardens inspired by Versailles, the mansion was never occupied. The Patiño Mansion is now the Centre Simon I. Patiño. The gardens and art museum are open to the public.
  
• La Cancha: La Cancha in Cochabamba is one of South America’s largest open-air markets. It is open seven days a week.
  
• El Cristo de la Concordia: Cristo de la Concordia is a statue of Jesus Christ located atop San Pedro Hill, to the east of Cochabamba. It is accessible by cable car, or by climbing 2,000 steps. The statue is the second largest statue of Jesus Christ in the world. The views from the platform are spectacular, and you can get a clear idea of just how big Cochabamba really is.
  
• Tunari Mountain: Cerro Turani is a mountain 5,035 meters high, dominating the landscape to the northwest of Cochabamba. Travel two hours and go from a semi-tropical climate to a mountainous and fresh environment. Many tour agencies offer this trip.
  
• Parque Toro Toro: Four hours from Cochabamba, this national park is famous for being the land of dinosaurs. You can walk alongside dinosaur footprints, go into the Torotoro canyon and visit the longest and deepest caves in Bolivia. 
  
• Food: Cochabamba is known as the culinary capital of Bolivia and this is where you can eat the best food Bolivia has to offer in the most generous portions.
