Puno to Machu Picchu

The trip from Puno to Machu Picchu is very frecuent among tourists who come from Bolivia and Argentina and want to see the lost city of the incas. In order to travel by bus from Puno to Machu Picchu you must divide the trip in two segments, first from Puno to Cusco and then from Cusco to Machu Picchu. 

The distance between Puno and Cusco is 385 km and the trip by bus takes around 7 hours.  

You can choose different companies that cover that route, normally with two types of seats: semi lie-flat, which recline to 140 degrees and lie-flat seats which recline to 160 degrees. The route from Puno to Cuzco has breathtaking views, and you will have the option of traveling during the day or at night, depending on your plans. The buses leave at 8:15 in the morning and between 21:30 and 22:00 at night, from the bus station in Puno, located on Primero de Mayo St. They arrive in the bus station of Cuzco, located on Avenida Evitamiento.

Once in Cusco, you must go to the train station to continue the trip to Machu Picchu. In order to travel from Cusco to Machu Picchu by train you can take any of the several train companies that offer this service in comfortable, tourist trains. the distance between these destinations is 74 km which you can cover comfortably by PerúRail Expedition, PeruRail Vistadome, or Belmond. 
The trip takes around two hours and te trains leave in the morning so you can enjoy the whole day at the ruins. The trains leave from several different trin sttions, like Wanchaq Station, Poroy Station and Ollantaytambo Station. The trains arrive at the Train Station of Machu Picchu Town, ex Aguas Calientes, in the neighborhood Las Orquídeas.
