TRAVEL OPTIONS FROM LA PAZ TO VILLAZÓN

Tickets Bolivia offers several bus travel options to make this journey:

• Direct trip: There is a direct bus from La Paz to Villazón. The journey takes 18 hours and buses leave from 1:00pm to 7:30pm from the bus terminal on Avenida Peru. Please note that passengers have to pay a small bus terminal fee of 2.5 Bs (about US$0.30) before boarding the bus. The bus goes via Potosi and Tupiza. The companies offering a service on this route is are Panamericana (semi lie-flat bus) and Expreso Tupiza (lie-flat bus).

SOME TOURISTIC INFORMATION THAT CAN BE OF INTEREST

There are not many tourist activities in this small border town, which is mainly used for border crossing to Argentina.

• Museo Etnográfico Mosojñan: In La Quiaca, on the other side of the border, you can visit a museum about the indigenous history and culture of the region
  
• Border: Villazón is separated from La Quiaca by an international bridge with Bolivian immigration on one side and the Argentinian on the other.
  
• Food: There are hearty and cheap menus available upstairs at the municipal market, from about 8 Bs. Around the bus terminal in Villazón, there is an abundance of reasonably priced eateries.
  
• Accommodation: There is an abundance of cheap hostels between the bus terminal and the railway station, so accommodation will not be a problem.
